BYLAWS
Introduction
Bylaws of any organization outline the day-to-day operational procedures for the conduct of that organization's business with respect to the constitutional authority and parliamentary authority of that organization.
Section 1 Financial Requirements
Section 1.1 Dues
a) The amount of dues for membership shall be
1. $10.00 for active members
2. $20.00 for alumni members
b) Dues are payable throughout the year and must be renewed each academic year.
Section 2 Committees
Section 2.1 Responsibilities
a) The Academic and Professional Development committee shall find ways to enhance career, academic, and personal growth of the BGA members - both in and out of the classroom.
b) The Banquet Committee shall plan the annual awards banquet and will assist with soliciting funds for this event via fundraisers and corporate sponsorships.
c) The Community Service committee shall coordinate projects in which members of the BGA can volunteer time, service and resources to the Purdue/Greater Lafayette community and elsewhere.
d) The Fundraising committee shall implement activities and projects geared towards providing funds for BGA.
e) The Membership committee shall be responsible for the recruitment of members to the BGA.
f) The Social committee shall find ways to promote interaction among members of the BGA.
g) The Undergraduate Outreach Committee shall find ways to strengthen the BGA's relationship with undergraduate students and minority student organizations at Purdue University .
Section 3 Method of Elections
Section 3.1 Election of Officers
a) Election of officers shall be held in the last week of March of every academic year
b) Any active member of BGA is eligible to run for office
c) The officers shall be elected one at a time, starting with the President, followed by the Vice-President, Treasurer, Recording Secretary, and the Corresponding Secretary.
d) Officers shall be elected by the active membership where quorum, as defined in the Constitution, Article I, Section 2, has to be met.
e) Should a vacancy occur in the office of President, the vacancy shall be filled by the Vice-President.
f) In the event that an elected officer is unable to fulfill his/her duties, the vacancy shall be filled by appointment of the Executive Board;
Section 3.2 Election of Advisor
a) Election of the Advisor shall be held in the first week of April
b) The Advisor shall be nominated by active members of the BGA.
c) The Advisor shall be selected by the majority vote of the active membership.
d) The Advisor shall preside in that position for two academic years
